An interactive box that symbolizes the distance between people, reflecting relationships through its generation of melodies and dynamic color gradients in response to gestures. Offering users a unique experience, it facilitates the creation of music and soothing visualizations, bridging the gap through movement.






WHAT  IS  THE  IDEA?


This project responds to personal experiences and global events, aiming to help people express their inner thoughts and foster connections.

HOW  IT  WORKS?


Technical process involves capturing user interaction through proximity sensors, processing the data with an Arduino microcontroller, transmitting it to a p5.js sketch for dynamic visual adjustments, providing audio feedback, and projecting the interactive visuals onto a physical surface for users to engage with in real-time.






VISUAL  CONCEPT


The visual aspect of the project draws heavily from the concept of distance. My initial research into the idea of distance led me to explore various representations, one of which was tango dancing. Tango inherently involves a delicate balance of distance and closeness between partners as they move. This inspired the idea of a shape that exists between two people, representing their interaction and distance.

BUILDING  AND  MATERIALS


Plywood allowed me to create multiple iterations, providing the flexibility to make and correct mistakes without significant expense. This material was particularly advantageous for prototyping, as it offered the opportunity to refine the design through multiple versions.
