PROJECT OVERVIEW
Time is an eternal flow—a continuum that we experience moment by moment. When you glance at a clock, it shows the present time, yet it is constantly moving forward into the future. Even as I write this, the words exist in the "now," but by the time you read them, they will have become the past.
This installation, Now, explores the essence of the present moment—a fleeting intersection of the past and the future. The "now" is neither static nor singular; it is a delicate blend of what has been and what is yet to come.
TESTING SHAPES & COLORS
I experimented with spiral shapes, inspired by the dynamic motion of a whirlpool. The idea was to create an illusion that grabs attention as it spins, evoking a sense of an endless loop, drawing viewers into a continuous and captivating motion.
WORKING PROCESS
I started by prototyping with cardboard and colored paper to quickly test the overall shape and structure. After refining the design, I laser cut several versions, experimenting with different materials including paper and wood. I also tested various material thicknesses to ensure the final piece would be stable yet lightweight enough to function properly. One of the most challenging parts of the process was designing the center hole to fit precisely onto the motor shaft. It took several iterations to get the size and alignment just right for a secure and smooth connection. These tests were essential for finalizing a well-balanced and functional result.
